"If we reach out and talk about mental health, we can save lives. You don't need to be a mental health expert to talk about it"

Huge thanks to Jonathan Dwyer from Make the Moove who spoke to our Farm Well Laois Transformation group on Wednesday night. Key points from this workshop:

Make the Moove was set up from a need within the community.

Men are 4 times more likely to die by suicide. Highest suicide rate among 40-59 year olds.

All of us have a relationship with ourselves.

Signs to look out for include change in personality, poor performance at work, substance abuse, extreme mood swings, self harm, lack of personal care, changes in eating habits / appetite, sleep problems, increased anxiety, increased isolation, long periods of tiredness / fatigue.

If you are unsure about how to deal with someone, treat them as you would like to be treated, with respect and honesty.

Please share with anyone who may be interested.

Make the Moove is a farmer driven, farmer led program promoting positive mental health among farmers and rural people .

Farm Well is part of Laois Transformation which is designed and delivered by True Fitness in partnership with Laois Sports Partnership and funded by Sport Ireland.
