Recipe: Fruit and nut oat bread

We had a little surprise for everyone who attended our community exercise class last night from 7-8pm in Portarlington GAA centre…Ruth made this delicious fruit & nut oat bread for everyone to sample (see recipe below). The oats provide a slow release of energy. The nuts, seeds, eggs and yoghurt are sources of protein which supports growth and repair in the body. Nuts and seeds are a great source of healthy fats (omega-3 and omega-6) which are important for cardiovascular health, brain function, immune function and hormone production. Did you know? Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids cannot be made by the body so they need to obtained from our diet. They can also be found in oily fish, flaxseed and eggs.

This bread is perfect for breakfast, lunchboxes, and as a post exercise snack 😋
